The Louisville High School Band has made big strides this year with two of their members qualifying for All State Band. This is a huge accomplishment for Micaiah Price who is currently a freshman, and Caleb MacNabb who is a new student at the high school and a sophomore.
First, to fully understand how major this accomplishment is, you need to know what All State Band is. All State Band is an honor band that is composed of the most talented and accomplished high school band students from across the state. These students are traditionally selected through a rigorous audition process.
Micaiah Price talked about what it meant for her to make All State Band. ”I didn’t have hope this year due to the fact that we have a pretty small band, but I ended up making it because of all of the support from my band members,” she said.
She also had to face some adversity because her audition music was wrong, and she was entered into class B instead of Class C. Despite the confusion, she still qualified for state band.
MacNabb has also made improvements in the band program at Louisville and qualified for All State Band along with Price. With this being his first year at LHS this is a huge accomplishment.
MacNabb said, “This year has been so fun being around this great community of students and just learning the role I play in the band.”
Both students have gone to many honor bands this year and have learned so much from their experiences. Price also talked about how the band has changed her as a person.
She said, ”I think it makes you value music a lot more. It also helps with everyday scenarios and works a certain part of your brain more than other activities.”
They both have had major roles in the band this year, and they both plan to continue their high school band career. These students are great examples of role models within the band.
