“3,2,1… Welcome to Unlimited Sports.” Those words were just a small part of the trip that several journalism members took to the University of Nebraska. The trip for many members brought new memories and experiences that none of them would have ever had, things ranging from producing a sports broadcast, taking photos on UNL’s campus, seeing the behind-the-scenes of a Husker football game, and even stepping onto the field.
Senior Easton Fiala said, “This trip taught me there are more aspects to broadcasting, and it's gonna also help us with our broadcasting and how we can improve it as a whole.”
The staff also toured Memorial Stadium all thanks to the several amazing College of Journalism staff and students at UNL.
Sophomore Kylie Gaston said, “I love how much our tour guides got so involved with us and always joined our vlogs on the set and the field.”
This trip didn't just include learning about the behind-the-scenes of being on air, but also ways that they can improve their photography skills. They learned new terms with the camera and how they can adjust angles, shutter speed, and even the f-stop to improve their photos throughout the year. Sophomore Kamdyn Olson got into it with her different angles by taking a moment to lay on her stomach on the ground and take a quick flick of fellow staff members, Braelyn Versen and Addi Bevins.
Olson said, “I gotta caterpillar angle to get a different perspective. ”
For me, this trip didn't just bring some new skills that will improve my photography and writing but also brought new memories of spending a day with a lot of new members that I will be with all year. I also realized I will never ever be on the air and should stick to writing instead.
