As the dance team is getting announced, they are ready to give it all they’ve got. One of the most anticipated days of the season for many of the girls is the first competition. On December 3rd at Papillion La Vista High School, the girls showed everybody what they are made of.
“It was very exciting performing again,” said sophomore Faith Hillabrand, a returner of the dance team.
Many of the girls that are a part of the dance team are brand new to dance. That does not stop them from learning new tricks and keeping their dance skills up to date.
“Everything is very new. They ask a lot of questions, which is great because they are able to pick up the choreography a lot quicker,” Hillabrand said.
At the first competition, everybody definitely had a lot of nerves, but family and friends were there to help support and brighten the spirits.
The dance team got second place at their first competition of the season. It might not have been how they wanted it to start, but it definitely was a learning experience.
Sophomore Kelsey Haynes, who was in the audience, said, “I could definitely feel the nerves right before they went out, but once they all started talking and hanging out with each other, they were fine.”
All of the members of the dance team consider it more than just a team. They call themselves family. That not only gives them a good team, but they also have built in best friends.

“We definitely will be making some changes and working even harder to get that first place trophy next time,” Hillabrand said.
