As middle schoolers lined Louisville High School’s activity entrance to get into the Middle School Dance, excitement was high. The Middle School Dance is something many students look forward to. Twice a year, the Louisville Middle School Student Council works hard to put on a dance for the students. Leading up to the occasion, the joy in the middle school hallway was contagious.
Along with a few dress-up days prior to the dance, the student council leaders dedicate their time to planning these events. The student council consists of 10 members and they all enjoy leading their classmates and setting a good example. They plan plenty of fundraisers and events to help out the school.
“My favorite part is leading and getting to help the school become better,” said 7th grade student council member, Tyler Hrabik.
The committee meets often and discusses upcoming tasks. With the help of their advisors, Mr. Van Meter and Mr. York, they get a lot accomplished for the middle schoolers. Planning the dance is always a favorite task of the group.
“We get a really good turnout from the dances and the kids that come always say that they have a good time,” said Mr. Van Meter.
The theme for the fall dance was Hollywood. Throughout the dance, the attire was fancy dresses, suits, and ties. Many of the kids who attended said that their favorite part was the music and the dancing. Others mentioned the honorable Limbo competition. The dance floor was always full during their favorite songs, such as the “Church Clap” or the “Cha-Cha Slide.” Dancing with their friends was what made the night memorable.
“I liked the atmosphere and being there with my friends!” said 7th grader, Harper Stohlmann.
Giving middle schoolers something to look forward to in the middle of each semester keeps them motivated for school. The Middle School Dance is one of the best nights for the middle school students. They make lifelong memories and stories for years to come.
