Most guys grow out their hair with the fear of going bald, but not at Louisville High School. The boys of Louisville High School are back for year two with their buzzed heads. This year they added a new twist of bleaching their hair. So far, 5 basketball boys and several other guys have decided to take on the trend.
Other than bald heads, there are other popular items and looks. Lululemon, Stanley Cups, cargo pants, and slick backs are the hottest trends at Louisville High School, but the bleached buzz cut has been the most noticeable.
Leader of the buzz cut, junior Walker Porter said, “Me and Sam [Luellen] were like, ‘Let’s shave our heads again this year.’ It's kind of like a tradition for basketball season.”
There are a lot of pros of shaving their heads. It is ‘drippy,’ according to Porter.
“It keeps that nice sleek look,” said sophomore Brady Abbot.
The basketball boys also don’t have to worry about moving their hair out of the way in the middle of a game. The downside is that their heads get cold.
Hairstyles aren’t the only trend that have taken over LHS. Shoes are another way students tend to express their personalities, and athletes use them so they can be identified on the court or mat easily.
Shoe styles are constantly changing. Everyone wants the newest item that’s out. With new shoes coming out quickly for the season, there is a lot of variety. For example, Hokas, On Clouds, and Nike Air Maxes are some of the popular choices for shoes this year.
Junior Finley Meisinger said, “I usually follow what's in trend and if it is comfortable. If it is cute and not comfy, I won’t get it.”
