"I shed a couple tears," junior Landon Voss said as he described what it felt like to be back on the video game Fortnite’s “OG” map.
Fortnite is a multiplayer battle royale-based video game developed by Epic Games. OG, or "Original Gangster"--which means old-school--is the name for the new season. The original map was used from 2017 to 2019 and hasn’t been back since. On November 3rd, 2023 the map returned, and it gave a glimpse of childhood back to people all over the world. Players are now coming back to play the game they grew up on.
With Fortnite bringing back the map, players across the world got to experience and recollect the friendships and stories they had made along their lifetime.
“Man, I was so excited, I couldn’t stop thinking about Fortnite,” said junior Evan Schmieder, after hearing about the old map returning.
For millions of people around the globe, hearing of the old map returning sounded almost like a miracle. The news brought joy to all those players wishing for the return. Now that it is here, people don’t want to get off.
“I haven’t touched grass in a while, other than school,” 7th grader Shaun Easey said.
Easey joined Fortnite later on and never got to experience the old map for himself. Now that he is able to experience it, he has become addicted to the new season. Playing with his friends and getting more victories make the time fly by.
The OG map is not only bringing back friendships and memories, but it will also create new ones. Thank you, Epic Games.
