Help the cheer team get fired up by being the next Fan of the Week. The LHS Cheer Team has implemented a new way to get the crowd more involved. Every week, the LHS Cheerleaders pick a fan that radiates school spirit. They want someone supportive, proud, spirited, loud, and engaged.

A recent Fan of the Week, senior Ella Culver said, “It was fun performing in front of the crowd and doing the cheers.”

Culver was a part of the cheer team for three years, so getting Fan of the Week was important to her. Ella remembered the rush of performing in front of a large crowd, but this time from the bleachers.

Sophomore Fan of the Week, Jager Barnes said, “I enjoyed getting to experience what it was like as an LHS Cheerleader. It made me realize how much they care about their fans and their dedication.”

The cheer team will show the crowd that they see their dedication as fans. This reassures them that they are doing their part as a crowd member.

As a student in the stands, Ella can tell that the cheerleaders really enjoy getting to involve their peers at games.

She said,  “It makes them feel like they are cheering for a reason and that people are appreciative of what they are cheering for.”

Having the extraordinary student section and Fan of the Week assures the cheer team that someone will always yell back. They acknowledge that they are getting people involved and are contributing to the players.

“I look forward to cheering more now,” said sophomore cheerleader Beatrice Quam.

This year the cheerleaders have seen a massive difference in the crowd.

Quam said, “In the previous years a lot of people haven’t really cared or given much effort with going along with the cheer team … I think having something to encourage people with helps.”

It is nearly impossible to miss the high energy circulating in the gym. With everyone's energy, the vibe of the environment is extraordinary.

In future years, the Louisville Cheer team wants to continue Fan of the Week. It is a wonderful way to get everyone involved and to encourage the others around them. Hopefully, basketball season will see the same liveliness that volleyball did.
