Mrs.Carraher and Mrs.Huber enjoy being around each other.

A goal for many teachers is to inspire their students to fulfill their career dreams; it’s even more special when their student becomes a teacher and a colleague. Louisville’s new counselor, Carole Carraher inspired her student, Monica Huber, to follow her path.

Mrs. Carraher’s background may be similar to those of Louisville students; she graduated with a class of 22 from a small town called Spalding, Nebraska. Mrs. Huber also had a small class with only 72 kids in her grade. Both coming from small schools, the size drew them to Louisville. Mrs. Huber began working at Louisville as the technological teacher in 2021.

“Louisville parents and students have been super welcoming…it’s my home away from home,” said Mrs. Huber.

Mrs. Huber moved to Gretna High School for her freshman year. Stepping into her English class, she met her teacher, Mrs.Carraher, who later became her kids' godmother, her best friend, and now her colleague.

Mrs. Carraher has been in the education field for 42 years most of which was spent as a counselor. Outside of teaching she also helped coach the Gretna High School One Act program and led them to 28 championships.

Louisville’s counseling position was open for the 2023-2024 school year, which Monica Huber had a strong passion to fulfill, but she needed some assistance. Huber contacted Carraher and got her to apply for the counseling job as a teammate.

These fantastic ladies have visions for this year starting with connecting one on one with parents from the junior and senior classes to help them with planning for their future.

Mrs. Carraher said, “It’s special getting to see your students live their dreams how they want it.”

These two superstars are excited to be a helping hand as students take their next step into adulthood.
