Change can be a wonderful thing in a school community. Miss Smith, the new 7-12 choir and band teacher is walking into her first semester as an educator. She is eager, positive, and enlightened by the thought of being a member of Louisville Public Schools.
Miss Smith said, “I like to see people learn, be able to be creative, and experiment. That is what teaching is about… experimenting.”
Students knowing that their teacher is excited to see them learn and be creative can encourage them to work harder. With Miss Smith’s motivation as a first-year teacher, she will get her students far in her classes.
Miss Smith is looking forward to this upcoming school year and seeing the progression of the LPS music organization.
She said, “I’m really excited… I’ve seen progress and it is really going to be exciting to see it grow and become better.”
She is putting 100% into the choir and band program. She wants to see it get better and make it a fun experience for the students. She loves how the students can come into her room during Pride Time and practice.
Being a brand-spanking new teacher can be stressful and overwhelming. It is hard to manage this situation without some guidance, but Miss Smith is not afraid to reach out. She has reached out to many past and present teachers including Mrs. Stanley, Mr. White, and Mr. Luedtke, as well as some of her own contacts.
“I have lots of mentors,” She said.
Knowing that there are people who are willing to help is a reassuring feeling to someone who has entered the LPS family. Having people who are going to guide others down the right path is extremely beneficial. Miss Smith is a great addition to our school community and will help the program grow.
Miss Smith wants to make this program the best that it can be. With her hard work and dedication, she will help the band and choir program flourish.
