Three male custodians

From big messes to school improvement projects, Louisville members owe it all to one group of people: the maintenance staff. There are two main groups in the maintenance staff: the custodial staff and the engineers. Louisville’s head engineer is Rob Bauers; the evening crew is made up of Shane Clymer and Louisville alum Blake Dickey.

Kids can be messy, but whatever mess they leave seems to disappear the next day. Louisville’s custodial staff go from classroom to classroom picking up trash, vacuuming, and disinfecting but their work isn't limited to the classroom.

Blake said, “The biggest mess I have ever cleaned was after a basketball game. There was popcorn and wrappers everywhere.” Blake and Shane find all sorts of things in the bleachers. A day after a basketball game Shane was cleaning the bleachers, and found some cash.

“If you lose something at a game, ask us because if someone hasn't already found it, we will,” he said.

While Blake and Shane are cleaning, Rob is fixing anything that breaks as quickly as he can, so everything can get back to normal.

Rob said, “The best part about my job is there is always something new to do or fix every day.”

Louisville has a great maintenance staff. They love seeing the kids in the hallways and
are here to make the school the cleanest place it can be. So let's put some thought into
it when we throw something away or see all the trash at the end of a game and help pick it up. they deserve everyone's help.
