three female custodians

At Louisville, we take pride in our cleanliness, yet we wouldn't have this luxury without the help of our custodial staff. Every morning three lovely ladies come in ready to work. Megan Cory has been working here for 3 years, Susan Knop 8 years, and Bobbi Dickey for 17 years. These women have impacted students, teachers, and the community of Louisville with the job they do.

There are some downfalls to being a janitor. Bobbi has a pet peeve and that's "Leaving stuff on the locker room floors and having to pick it up in order to sweep & and mop." Many other inconveniences occur such as trash in the hallways and making unnecessary messes. This job is not for the weak. You have to be willing to put up with situations and somehow find a way to fix them.

With all that, there are some positives. The ladies as a whole agree that the children are the best
part about this job. Yes, we all make messes and tend to not clean up after ourselves, but the janitors don't mind as long as there are happy children.

Senior Lauren Green also had thoughts in this matter, "I am so grateful that they clean messes we leave. Truthfully I'm not sure what our school would be without them."

This school would be a wreck if we didn't have the great work these ladies provide for us. Not only do they clean and tidy up areas, but they make students happy by interacting with them. This is a job but also a safe space, and having staff to talk to is amazing. Through talking to many students a common response was "They ask about my sports and how my life has been and how life has been, and that makes me feel known and cared for."

As a whole community, we need to appreciate everything that our custodial staff provide for us, and the time they put into making Louisville better.
